About the print “The Ride Back”

Bird’s eye view of a Vietnam era U.S. Army Huey “Slick” Helicopter. Military men who have served in Vietnam say this print brings back strong memories.

The composition captures the intensity and motion of the U.S. Army Huey Helicopter in action. The print evokes the sounds of whirring blades and distant radio chatter. Subtle shading and craftsmanship in the print bring out the depth and realism. This makes viewers feel as though they are hovering over the landscape of Vietnam. Veterans who served during the war often recall the Huey as a symbol of both danger and salvation. The Huey delivered troops into battle, provided emergency evacuations, and offered a crucial lifeline in the thick of the jungle.

About the U.S. Army Huey Helicopter

The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, commonly known as the “Huey,” was developed by Bell Helicopter in the early 1950s in response to the U.S. Army’s need for a new utility helicopter. Its first flight took place on October 20, 1956, and it officially entered service in 1959, becoming the first turbine-powered helicopter used by the U.S. military.

Originally designed for medical evacuation (medevac) and general utility transport, the Huey quickly proved to be one of the most versatile helicopters in military history. During the Vietnam War, its role expanded to include troop transport, cargo delivery, close air support, and search and rescue operations.

Manufactured by Bell Helicopter (now Bell Textron Inc.), the Huey became an icon of the Vietnam War, with over 7,000 of them deployed in combat zones.

Whether you have a personal connection to the Vietnam War or an appreciation for military aviation, this print serves as a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who flew and fought.

The 17″ x 25″ prints are available in Limited Edition sizes of 750 Signed & Numbered and 75 Artist Proofs.
