Description
“Shellightning” puts the spotlight on a spectacular Lockheed Orion 9C. Jimmy Doolittle purchased this airplane when he became the vice president of Shell. He took it to air races to promote Shell aviation fuel. Designed in 1931, the Orion is one of the most classic designs in the aeronautical field. Sam did extensive research to get all the details right including the lightning bolts positioned across the plane’s name.
Another Lockheed aircraft print by Sam Lyons on this website is the Amelia Earhart plane in color, a Lockheed Vega 5b.
The 17.5″ x 26″ prints are available in Limited Edition sizes of 600 Signed & Numbered, 25 Artist Proofs.
