My mom and my dad were both licensed pilots and kept both planes on the farm here until they were both too old to pass their medicals. Great times and great memories! Hey Sam, you were my football coach at Woodward Academy. I didn't get along with Coach Bowers because he never played me. I have two retirements behind me one as a Navy Diver 24 years, and the other in the steel business. I have followed your career, and you are truly a great artist. My father in law a retired Delta pilot, and Navy pilot has a painting of every plane he ever flew behind his desk painted in oil, 14 planes in all, and it was such a huge undertaking the artist said he would nwever attempt it again. I live in Woodstock with my wife of 30 years Sharon, and our son Evan will be a Sophmore at Young Harris this Fall. My house backs up to Home Depot.I am in outside sales for Metal Coaters of Georgia. I have a 1962 V tail Bonanza that is a classic. Searched your gallery for a Bonanza and didnt find one. Do you have any plans to paint one? Sir, i am not sure that the B-25J model 6L was the Cowtown Avenger, in fact she was the Rinkee Doo. 43-27639 The aicraft was in the 340th BG 486th BS at Alesan in Corsica France. The 6L Cowtown Avenger was a B-25D, she served in Africa and was the 41-30101. If you are interested, I could send you two photos of the different airplanes.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sam by driving crosscountry with his cub frame attached to the roof of a car. The car was on a trailer and it looked quite strange. As a teenager and plastic modeller, I used to frequent Historical Hobbies on Buford Highway. People like Sam, John Ficklen, Steve Dennis and others were GODS to me. I've followed Sam's work for years. Amazing stuff. I get tickled when I go some place...like an FBO in Gainesville GA...and see a "Sam" print. I always smile and think "hey I know that guy!".
